Bringing Life Back to a Woolly Dog Coat

3 min read

A woolly or lifeless coat can feel dry and look dull. It might lack its natural bounce or softness. Giving it the right care can bring back its natural beauty. This guide shows you how to revive your dog’s woolly coat with a simple, effective routine.

Step 1: Deep Cleanse to Remove Build-up

Starting with a clean slate is important for any coat revival. Old product residues, environmental pollutants, and natural oils can weigh down the coat. They can also prevent conditioning treatments from working effectively. A deep cleansing shampoo helps remove these impurities.

Begin by bathing your dog with Stripper. This chelating and purifying shampoo opens the hair cuticle. It lifts away every kind of residue and product build-up. Use two lathers in warm water. Rinse the coat thoroughly after each lather. This prepares the coat to absorb the rich hydration that comes next.

Step 2: Intensive Hydration Mask

Once the coat is clean, it is ready for deep nourishment. A powerful mask will infuse moisture and strengthen the hair strands. This step is key to restoring softness and vitality.

After rinsing the shampoo, gently blot the coat with a Big Size Microfiber Towel until it is damp. Then, apply Fortaleza Treatment. This mask is known for maximum nutrition without changing the coat’s natural volume. It also provides an extraordinary shine and seals dry or damaged ends.

Apply the mask in three distinct zones: first, the chest, front legs, neck, and head. Next, cover the back and underside. Finally, apply it to the hips, skirts, tail, and rear legs. Massage the product well into the ends of the coat. This helps ensure even coverage and deep penetration.

For the mask to work its best, wrap your dog. Do not wrap an absorbent towel directly against the coat. This can pull the product back out. Instead, wrap the coat in a plastic cape or bag. Then, cover with a towel and a warm blanket. Leave the mask on for at least an hour for woolly coats. After this time, let your dog cool for five minutes. Then, rinse with plenty of cold water. This cold rinse helps to seal the cuticle and lock in the moisture.

Step 3: Lock in Moisture with a Hydration Spray

After rinsing the mask, an immediate application of a hydration spray helps to further seal in moisture. It also prepares the coat for gentle drying.

Right after the cold rinse, spray Jealousy generously onto the coat. This is the most concentrated hydration spray in the line. It helps to keep the coat moisturized and soft as it dries. You can also use it for daily brushing on straight coats, or on skin after a shave-down.

Step 4: Gentle Drying

How you dry a woolly coat is important. Harsh drying methods can disrupt the coat’s texture and lead to frizz or damage.

Never use a force dryer on a woolly coat. Instead, use a diffuser on a low heat setting. Or, allow the coat to air-dry naturally. This gentle approach helps to maintain the coat’s natural pattern and softness.

Step 5: Ongoing Maintenance

Once your dog’s woolly coat is revived, you will want to keep it looking its best. Consistent care helps maintain its health and vibrancy.

For subsequent baths, switch to Arrogance. This extreme-hydration shampoo provides deep moisture with a straight, silky, natural fall. It does not add volume. It is also suitable for puppies of every breed and coats that break or shed. Continue to use Fortaleza Treatment as needed for deep conditioning. Keep Jealousy on hand for regular hydration. If you want to explore other shampoo options for moisture and shine, you can compare Arrogance vs Deluge.
